Hear Me Out: Tea is the Perfect Gift

Afternoon tea is one of my favorite times of the day. It’s a chance to relax, drink something that’s not coffee, and brighten my mood. The last time I was at Leaves stocking up on some tea for the holidays, it occurred to me: tea really is the perfect gift. Let’s break down why.

It’s a consumable.

If the opportunity presents itself, I’ll always gravitate towards giving food items for gifts. Consumable gifts often feel more personal because it caters directly to someone’s tastes. They also have a shelf life which means should someone not love it so much, it won’t be any obligation to keep it around.

There’s a massive variety of tea selections.

There’s something for everyone. A fan of sweets? There are a ton of sweet options and even tea companies that specialize in it. Looking to help aid in something specific? There are teas for that too! Don’t like hot tea? Not an issue, there are teas that are made to be served chilled. Considering stepping down from the caffeine of coffee? There are some great options to help you in that process.

Tea has less caffeine.

2020 has a lot of people rethinking their caffeine intake due to anxiety or maybe simply having the time to identify some habits they don’t love so much. Black tea has just about half the amount of caffeine as a cup of coffee and there is a large variety of low caffeine and decaf teas. If drinking coffee is a habit you or someone you love has been on the fence about, more so over the course of this year, tea is an excellent gift to consider.

There are a ton of tea accessories.

So much more than a simple mug. I mean, seriously cute accessories that fit anyone’s style.

It’s an easy way to support your local tea shop.

I personally stop by Leaves in Fort Worth. If you’re in Fort Worth and want to dive into tea a bit more, Dixya Bhattarai will be hosting a Zoom class on 12/19 that is a brief history and tasting of tea. You can find more info and sign up here! Find out where your nearest tea shop is and take some time to stop by and lend your support to their small business.
