Skincare Tips that aren't a Cream
Everyone’s skin is different as the serums, creams, and toners that work for me may not be the same for everyone else. However, there are a few things I’ve been doing that have made a difference in my skin and aren’t subjective to skin type. Whether you’re going through a hormonal rollercoaster, smooth sailing, or almost any other skin concern (within reason), these are some tips that have worked for me.
Facial Steaming
I originally bought this facial steamer with the idea that I would use it before a mask to fully open my pores. FYI this is still an awesome way to use it. With weather changes and my dry skin, I started using it in both the morning and evening, just for a couple of minutes. This sounds like it’s a huge time investment, but in actuality, it’s not. It’s simply the step after washing my face.
Facial Rollers/Stones
I have both a roller and a stone and I love them both. I use the roller primarily for under my eyes and my stone before bed, usually in combination with a face oil for a mini circulation massage. Although I haven’t done any study into reflexology, I feel better and so does my skin when I’m regularly working towards increasing circulation in my face.
Including Collagen Peptides in my Coffee
Every morning, I add two scoops of collagen peptides to my coffee. I use Vital Proteins and swear by it. Still, I’ve linked to Amazon if you want to give it a try! It’s an easy easy to add protein to my diet and honestly, I’ve seen a huge difference in my skin since making this a part of my routine. I’ve now been using this for almost a full year and can see a difference mainly in under my eyes and my cheekbones.
Drinking Water/Staying Hydrated
Sure sure, this is cliche and I get it. I drink Liquid IV a couple times a week to make sure I’m on top of my electrolytes and that I’m not dehydrated. When I don’t feel my best, my skin shows it.
Rest
Ok ok. This is something I’m still working on and I’m pretty sure we all kind of are. When I push myself to get cut off caffeine at a reasonable hour, set a bedtime reminder, and get to sleep at a reasonable time, I see that reflected in my face.
