Our Little Gallery Wall
We actually don’t have a lot of open wall space so when it comes to a gallery wall, ours is on the smaller side. Still, I love it because each piece is a part of the larger story of us. Our walls are very white and I wanted this to not necessarily be a cohesive area when it comes to decor. It doesn’t follow a color scheme, size requirements or really anything. Most of the pieces on the wall are from traveling and they hold a special memory attached.
This was a piece of art we chose together while visiting Portland, Oregon with a group of friends. We took a walk downtown, ended up in a small gallery and loved this little picture of the Hawthorne Bridge.
We grabbed this postcard from the Stitzel Weller Distillery in Louisville, Kentucky. We took a road trip (at that time with an 18 month old) to visit some of our best friends and took a tour of the Distillery. We came back with lots of bourbon, too.
I picked this colorful print from the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona. I took a trip with one of my grade-school friends for a girls’ weekend and woke up early to watch the sunrise from the desert.
Oliver (my pug of 12 years) passed away last Fall and before he was cremated, the hospital took a mold of his footprint.
These are two bills from the Czech Republic from one of Kyle’s work trips to the Redhat Office.
When we moved apartments in Vancouver, we had a small housewarming party. One of our friends said she scribbled a quick drawing of Oliver on a card envelope while on the way to our place and I just loved it.
This is a photo from Lions Gate Bridge looking down on the Stanley Park Seawall. This particular stretch of the 5.5 mile trail was my favorite.
This is a small canvas from Santa Cruz, Bolivia. While in University, Kyle and I both attended a short-term mission trip together to the city of Santa Cruz and Sucre. We established long lasting connections with many students there and even have met up with some years later.
A couple years ago, Kyle, James and I spent the week before Christmas in Seattle for a work conference. We had an Airbnb right around the corner from Pike Place Market and shared it with another family of one of Kyle’s coworkers who was also there for the conference. It was so fun to show James a bit of the PNW and since I was pregnant with Ian, it was kind of fun to know that I’ve been in Seattle while pregnant with both boys.
Similar to the Czech Republic trip, these are bills from another of Kyle’s work trips, this time to Beijing, China.
This was a small special menu/postcard that I was given at Le Diplomate in Washington, DC. My sister used to live there in the city and on a whim, I bought two tickets to see our favorite podcasters live. Before heading to the show, we went to eat at Le Diplomate and it was everything people said it would be.
When I was a preteen, my mom happened to take a flight where she recognized a few of the men getting on the plane as The Backstreet Boys. She did her thing and asked a stewardess to get their autographs on a plane napkin for me and now, as an adult, it reminds me of what we do for our kids.
